Hello everyone! We so excited to introduce this new program to you and our community. It is the hope of the Club and our Director of Coaching, Jon Nishimoto, that we build a program around community activities and engagement.
It is our mission to create opportunities for players, coaches, and community members to engage one another to increase unity, foster an identity, and promote our Club. We believe something not offered with any other club in our area is a real connection with and sense of community. Therefore we will endeavor to establish a culture of community services and engagement by giving back to the communities we play within while simultaneously offering chances for players to bond with their peers, coaches, and families.
If anyone feels strongly about this program and has something to contribute, whether it is an internship with your company, ideas on activities you'd like to see, or ways to connect, please contact: <email>
Jenya Jawad
Community Engagement Coordinator
My name is Jenya Jawad and I have been a coach with EBU since 2015. I played competitive soccer in the Bay Area and at El Cerrito High School before playing at California State University, Monterey Bay. I am currently the coach of our 2003/2004G pool.
Every season I have worked with my teams to do at least two community service projects. Every season my players have risen to the task and have surpassed my expectations. We have done everything from holding bake sales and donating the proceeds, to participating in run-a-thons, and most recently (this past November) collecting non-perishable foods and clothing to donate in Oakland, Berkeley, and Alameda. My hope is that I can replicate the success I've had with other teams and build upon what I've been doing for a few years now.
My background is in Recreation and Community Events & Outreach for institutions like the City of El Cerrito Recreation Department and the USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum. I have volunteered with youth both domestically and abroad in countries like Ghana, Poland, England, and Sweden.
